Special Educational Needs (SEND)

At Hawksmoor School, pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are supported to achieve their potential through quality first teaching and appropriately differentiated learning activities, resources and approaches. We ensure that all staff in the school are able to identify and provide for those pupils who have special educational needs or disabilities. Some pupils will need something additional to and different from what is provided for the majority of pupils; this is special educational provision and we will use our best endeavours to ensure that this is planned and delivered for those who need it. Hawksmoor is an inclusive school and the direction of the school’s SEND policy ensures that all staff are supporting the children to achieve their individual goals and aspirations. We also aim to ensure that parents are fully engaged in decision making, assessing progress and determining goals.

Teaching and learning for SEND pupils is supported through the advice, guidance and training from outside agencies. This includes Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists, ASD Outreach Service, Social Communication Project, Occupational Therapists, School based counselling, Play Therapist, STEPS and MHIST.

Our dedicated SEN staff are led by the Trust Inclusion Lead, Hannah Morgan, who oversees provision across both sites. Ms. Morgan can be contacted at: inclusion@windrush.greenwich.sch.uk

Our SENCo is Nicole Rowe and she can be contacted at nrowe@hawksmoor.greenwich.sch.uk
